About M.E. Lemelin

Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and now residing in Goulais River, on the shores of Lake Superior, Mary-Ellen Lemelin is a self-taught artist with a style that is characterized by an unsystematic approach to mixed media, with acrylics forming the foundation of her work. She is continually captivated by the beauty of nature surrounding her, which fuels her passion for art.⁣ ⁣

Mary-Ellen’s natural affinity for art began at a young age. Her parents recognized her vivid imagination and encouraged her creativity and artistic expression. After her parents separated, she relocated, living in different cities across Ontario which allowed her to experience the diverse charm of the province.⁣ ⁣

In 2011, Mary-Ellen gained recognition for her work, received commission orders, and sold pieces to collectors in the United States. Notable exhibitions include a showcase at Art Inc. in Hamilton, Ontario, in 2017, as well as sales at The Mystic Tree located in Burlington, Ontario.⁣ ⁣

Mary-Ellen’s celebrated series, “Red Coat Wonders”, serves as a reflection of her own life experiences and emotions; joy, nostalgia, personal growth, and sadness are intertwined through the striking imagery of the red coat. As she continues to explore this theme, the series evolves, embodying her journey as both an artist and an individual.⁣
